Movie Review: Thor.

If you’re looking for some eye-candy in Aussie Chris Hemsworth, you’ll get it in Thor.

There’re also some good laughs, especially when Natalie Portman’s character, Jane, backs into Thor with her truck… for the second time!

And I did love Portman’s wardrobe of flannelette shirts with biker boots, printed tees and a black duffle coat.

But that’s the extent of my enjoyment of Thor.

I thought it moved to slowly (although my cousin said she thought it moved too quickly, and I will give her that; it’s somehow an amalgamation of slow meets fast); you really have to be a comic book geek or know the Thor backstory going into this film.

I did enjoy the scenes spent on Earth, but let’s face it: the movie was primarily set and focused on Thor’s home planet/realm of Asgard.

And, granted, Thor is a precursor to The Avengers, set to be released in cinemas in May next year, which includes Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Incredible Hulk.

But individual movies need to stand alone, despite being part of a franchise, and I don’t believe Thor did that. My advice? Wait til the DVD comes out and skip to the shirtless Hemsworth scenes.

The laughs were worth it, especially with the continual references to the ass-guardians! Stan Lee’s cameo was good too. I nearly fell asleep in it as did one of my friends but we stuck it through. What I don’t get is why, if they live in such a magical world that looks like some futuristic space world, do they still ride horses? I mean, honestly, that shit would be more believable if they had spaceships!
