While Lana Del Rey as GQ‘s Woman of the Year cover isn’t problematic from the outset (I quite like the composition and her body looks banging), it is when you realise it’s part of a set with several other covers featuring GQ‘s men of the year, including Tinie Tempah, Mad Men‘s John Slattery and Robbie Williams, all dressed in identical black tuxes. I, for one, think Lana’s cover would have made more of an impact if she, too, had been wearing a tux. Just another example of women being singled out and used for their sexuality as opposed to the other things they have to offer the world.
